*APPLICABLE TO CANADIAN RESEARCHERS ONLY*
Dear colleagues,
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has announced its next round
of competitive funding open for university research. You may have
already been alerted by your institution about internal procedures and
deadlines. CFI does present a substantial opportunity for funding
projects and initiatives above and beyond what is already in place with
TRIUMF's Five-Year Plan, NSERC, and so on. The TRIUMF community has been
very successful in the past and there is no reason to expect this to
change.
Certain CFI projects may require TRIUMF resources or have an impact on
existing plans or facilities. To manage these impacts optimally, and to
identify any needed priorities, TRIUMF is turning to its Policy and
Planning Advisory Committee (PPAC).
TRIUMF is requiring that all potential CFI projects that affect or draw
on TRIUMF resources must submit a Project Charter Sheet for
consideration by PPAC in advance of its meeting on September 16
(http://www.triumf.ca/project-management/project-charter-sheet-commitment-summary-sheet
<http://www.triumf.ca/project-management/project-charter-sheet-commitment-summary-sheet>).
The TRIUMF Program and Planning Advisory Committee (PPAC) we will be
meeting September 16 and will be assessing the demands place on TRIUMF
by the CFI proposals. To be sure of optimal treatment by TRIUMF the
Project Charter Sheets should be submitted to me by September 9 so they
can be considered by PPAC.
