Dear TRIUMF Users Group,

The TRIUMF Users Group Executive Committee (TUEC) has several important 
matters to bring to the attention of the Users Group. In this email you 
will find three calls for nominations for new TUEC members: one for two 
currently unfilled positions of representatives (2014/15), one for two 
representatives for the following two years (2015/16), and one for a new 
Chair Elect for 2015.

In addition, we are updating the user email list and instructions to 
subscribe to this new list can be found below. We appreciate you taking 
the time to read through this email in full and look forward to your 
responses.


NEW TRIUMF DIRECTOR

TRIUMF's search for a new director has been successfully completed. The 
Users Group is welcoming Dr. Jonathan Bagger who will start his six-year 
term on July 1st, 2014. For more information, see

AGM 2014

This year TRIUMF hosts the Nuclear Structure Conference (July 20th-25th) 
and will have only a small ARIEL-related session on Friday afternoon, 
July 25th. The EEC meetings have been decoupled from this conference 
(MMS-EEC: June 23/24; SAP-EEC: July 7/8). Therefore we have no Annual 
General Meeting (AGM) of the TRIUMF Users Group scheduled in 2014. In 
the past, this one-day meeting was combined with the ARIEL Science 
workshop and EEC meetings whenever possible.
Since all time-critical issues (5-year-plan, next director) from the 
last year are completed, we decided to continue the AGM next year in 
combination with other events. If someone does not agree with this 
decision, please let us know. A list of previous AGM's can be found

CALL FOR TUEC NOMINATIONS

We still have to elect new members for the TRIUMF User Group Executive 
Committee (TUEC). Since no elections took place in 2013 we are presently 
missing two representatives on the TUEC.
This is a CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for
- 2 new TUEC representatives for 2 years (2014/15).

Present members are Anadi Canepa (TRIUMF) and Catherine Deibel 
(Louisiana State University), whose terms will end Dec. 31st 2014. This 
means we also have another CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for
- 2 new TUEC representatives for 2 years (2015/16).

Present TUEC Chair is Iris Dillmann (TRIUMF), Chair Elect is Bernd 
Stelzer (SFU).
Bernd will become Chair in 2015, and we thus also CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for
- a new Chair Elect for 2015.

We are trying to rotate between the main fields of research at TRIUMF, 
so the Chair Elect 2015 should ideally come from Nuclear Medicine or 
Materials Science. Due to the by-laws, Chair and Chair Elect must have 
different affiliations.

Please send your nominations for Chair Elect and/or the four 
representatives (please indicate which) to tug at triumf.ca.

PLEASE ONLY SEND NOMINATIONS ONCE YOU HAVE OBTAINED AGREEMENT FROM THE 
NOMINEE THAT HE/SHE IS WILLING TO STAND. The deadline for nominations is 
May 30th, 2014. A ballot email will be sent to all TUG members soon 
after this deadline unless we receive less or equal than the 5 required 
nominations. The outcome will be announced by email.

NEW TRIUMF USERS GROUP MAILING LIST

We are also in the process of updating the TRIUMF Users Group email 
list. The existing list comprises of 320 names. We ask every user to 
renew her/his subscription to this list as soon as possible via the

With this list you can easily subscribe or unsubscribe, and the TUEC has 
a quick way to distribute TUG-related information to the community.
