Dear TRIUMF Users, Experimenters, Operators and Staff,

The cyclotron deflector system has developed technical problems over the
last few days, resulting in significant instabilities. The problems are
on a level that has reached the systems trip point.

In a meeting with Science Division and operation stakeholders today, we
discussed the best path forward. The conclusion was, that additional
tests and measurements will be carried out today, and then the
appropriate actions will be taken. This includes potentially the need to
suspend operation of the cyclotron and raise the vacuum lid for repair.
In this case, the Accelerator Division is prepared to make all necessary
repairs over the upcoming weekend and statutory holiday (July 1st), with
the goal to have beam available for users July 7th.

This message is to inform you about the situation; if the tests today
and tomorrow indicate other actions, we will inform you as soon as
possible. However, at this point we anticipate a necessary repair and
suspended cyclotron operation.

I apologize to all effected users, and should you have additional
questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jens Dilling
