Dear Friends, Colleagues, Members of the TRIUMF Community,
The main elements of Science Week 2021 have now been confirmed. The program will be made available later this month. For a list of confirmed speakers, please visit the Science Week 2021 web-site<https://www.triumf.ca/science-week-2021>.
Science Week 2021 will feature two main program streams:
* Celebrate recent achievements and articulate the science drivers for our current program. We want to celebrate the achievements during the last challenging year, with a particular focus on highlighting Early Career Researchers (ECR), who have lost a lot of opportunities for networking during the past year.
* 20-Year Vision Community Engagement: We want to share with the community what we have heard in the Listening and Visioning Phase of the 20-Year Vision Development and outline key elements of the draft 20-Year Vision framework.
As usual, the week will conclude with the TRIUMF Users Group Annual General Meeting.
Science Week 2021 will be structured as follows:
* Monday
* Keynote and ECR talks on EDI, and celebrating science highlights Nuclear Physics, Life Sciences, Quantum Materials, and Accelerator Science.
* Tuesday:
* Keynote and ECR talks on Particle Physics, Scientific Computing, and Science Technology
* Afternoon poster sessions and virtual networking event
* Wednesday:
* 20-Year Vision Topical Group summaries from Subatomic Physics, Accelerators, Site Development, Quantum Technologies, and Scientific Computing
* 20-Year Vision Round Tables on Subatomic Physic and the Canadian Big Science landscape
* Thursday:
* 20-Year Vision Topical Group summaries from Quantum Materials and Life Sciences
* 20-Year Vision Round Tables on Research supporting Sustainability, People & Skills, Life Sciences, and Innovation
* Friday:
* Town Hall to present and discuss the draft 20-Year Vision framework
A special emphasis of Science Week 2021 will be to enable cross- and inter-disciplinary discussion throughout the TRIUMF science program. We hope to bring together many members of the TRIUMF community and have fruitful and innovative ideas and discussions as we near fulfilment of the TRIUMF 20-Year vision process.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at Science Week 2021.
Best Wishes,
