The University of Windsor's Department of Physics, in the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Tenure-Track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the area of Experimental Physics, commencing July 1, 2023. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will lead a vibrant research program in experimental physics and will be expected to independently obtain external funding to support this program. This program will be capable of supporting both graduate and undergraduate student research assistants. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. programs by teaching within the full range of undergraduate and graduate physics courses (including the ability to teach large introductory-physics classes), supervising graduate and undergraduate research/thesis projects, and contributing significantly to outreach/service and undergraduate/graduate recruitment efforts.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Physics, supported by postdoctoral experience. A track record of peer-reviewed publications in the proposed area of research and a strong commitment to growth in teaching expertise are essential. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A demonstrated ability to apply for and/or secure external funding to support research activities will be considered an asset.
Candidates in any area of experimental physics will be considered for this position. Candidates proposing to perform research in areas of physics that can interact synergistically with any of the department's strong pre-existing research programs in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Biomedical/Medical Physics, Materials Science, and Non-Destructive Testing are particularly encouraged to apply, though applicants from all fields are welcome.
