Hello everyone,

I have upgraded the FLUKA version on the cluster as well as on the WG to
the latest version, 2011.2b.5 which was released on Feb. 3rd, 2014.
I did the upgrade on the cluster rather hastily yesterday since my jobs
stopped on March 1st, with this message on the output file:

In the output file:

   **** This version is obsolete and/or ****
**** you are not allowed to use FLUKA ****
**** Please contact the FLUKA list ****
**** or look for an updated version ****
   **** at http://www.fluka.org ****

I just finished updating the WG versions now. Let me know if you come
across any issues.

This is the first time I have come across the expiration time bomb. I
sent a message to the forum right after the 2011.2b.5 release, asking
how one can find the expiration date of a given release since this info.
is not in the RELEASE-NOTES. The RELEASE-NOTES for fluka2011.2b.5 are
the same as for the last version fluka2011.2b.4 and in there, there is a
note saying "The code expiration date (around end of 2010 for this
release) is there as a reminder to use up-to-date
versions.". I asked surely, it can not be 'around the end of 2010'. I
did not have a response and see another person who got the expiration
message on Feb. 3rd when running fluka2011.2b.4 which was the latest
available version!!! There was no response to that message either.

Anyhow, sorry if anyone else's jobs terminated due to this. The
expiration date is an annoyance, especially without a clear expiration
date defined for each release. Also, this release was a VERY minor
release without any physics changes.

From Alfredo: "This respin fixes a couple of rare crashes, includes
some updated auxiliary tools (larger dimensions etc) and above all
extend the code expiration date to well into 2015. No physics or random
number sequence change is expected."

So unless there is a major release, we should be good 'well into 2015'!

Mina
