<b>Subject:</b> Astroparticle fellow opportunity</div>
<div style="direction: ltr;"> </div>
</div>
<div style="font-family: Arial;">Hi Iris, Chris, </div>
<div>Just wanted to make you aware of the following fellow opportunity in astroparticle physics. Could you make candidates aware?</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div><a class="OWAAutoLink" id="OWAfdc22230-2076-5c69-5833-2d5ec061a7d7" data-auth="NotApplicable" originalsrc="https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/30912" href="https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/30912">https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/30912</a> </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>There are several faculty at UVic who would potentially host the fellow, including myself. For candidates interested in working with me there are two areas broadly, that would connect to this opportunity:</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div><b>Solar/geo-neutrino physics experiments</b></div>
<div>We just submitted a <a class="OWAAutoLink" id="OWA05ce5489-214d-8271-01c0-3809dece6616" data-auth="NotApplicable" originalsrc="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025arXiv250919240I/abstract" href="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025arXiv250919240I/abstract">
paper</a> that shows that oxygen-carbon shell mergers can produce highly variable 40K yields, implying large differences in planetary radiogenic heating and, by extension, internal dynamics. Next-generation low-background detectors at SNOLAB—especially those
extending sensitivity below ~1 MeV via í–e scattering or CEvNS—could directly probe 40K geo-neutrinos for the first time. Such measurements would link laboratory neutrino physics with nucleosynthetic predictions of stellar 40K production, providing a rare
experimental bridge between astrophysical origin and terrestrial consequence—precisely the kind of cross-domain opportunity emphasized in MI’s priorities for future solar/geo-neutrino and low-energy neutrino programs. </div>

<div><b>Multimessenger Astro </b></div>
<div>A recent <a class="OWAAutoLink" id="OWA2593f168-34fd-0889-367d-73227a467072" data-auth="NotApplicable" originalsrc="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025arXiv250203577B/abstract" href="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025arXiv250203577B/abstract">White
Paper</a> on Multimessenger Science in the Multimessenger Era scopes out this research domain. We are interested in ã-ray emissions from dynamic n-capture nucleosynthesis as well as multi-shell burning and convective mergers, and how they translate into line-emission
signatures accessible to upcoming MeV missions (COSI, e-ASTROGAM). We are also interested in progenitor end-to-end pipeline involving our SN progenitor simulations as part of a broader strategy for predictive, multi-messenger astrophysics.</div>

</div>
<div>Potential candidates are welcome to contact me before submitting their application. </div>
<div><br>

<div>Thanks, Falk.</div>
