<div class="ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message skipProofing">The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Physics at the rank of Assistant Professor, with proposed starting date of
July 1, 2026. As an institution committed to the fostering of an inclusive and transformative learning environment, UNBC values high quality and growth in both teaching and scholarship. UNBC’s Department of Physics oversees the BSc. Physics degrees (standalone,
Honours, and Joint degrees with Mathematics, Computer Science and Chemistry) and the faculty members also supervise MSc Physics graduate students.</div>

<div class="ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message skipProofing">We seek candidates who will develop an independent, externally funded, long-term research program in Quantum Science. Potential areas of research include Nuclear Physics, Materials Science, Condensed
Matter Physics, or Quantum Optics. Applicants with backgrounds in experimental, theoretical, or computational work are welcome to apply. UNBC is an associate member of the TRIUMF consortium, and individuals with research programs that can facilitate collaboration
and connection with national facilities (e.g. TRIUMF, Canadian Light Source) would be considered an asset.</div>

<div class="ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message skipProofing">The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of courses in the Physics degree programs as well as courses supporting a range of degree programs at UNBC. Preference will be given to applicants
with the interest and ability to teach a wide range of Physics undergraduate courses (First- through Fourth-Year) as well as MSc graduate courses. Candidates will also be expected to supervise research with undergraduate and graduate students.</div>

<div class="ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message skipProofing">Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline. Ideally, applicants will have post-doctoral and/or professional experience, demonstrated teaching experience at
the University level. The successful candidate will have a growing record of scholarly activity, as well as present evidence of and commitment to teaching excellence.</div>

<div class="ms-outlook-mobile-reference-message skipProofing">The salary for this position will be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience as per the UNBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement. The
annual salary range for this position is expected to be from $ 85,473 to $123,948.</div>
