GSRA/GSV Response-o-meter:
9/67

Greetings grad students,

So after a good start on the first day (6 responses), things flattened out considerably.

Reminder that we set the deadline for responses to Monday September 30, which is just two weeks away.

So please take a little time to talk to your supervisors and then fill in the form found at the link below. It is super-duper important. Really. It is. Our pay ultimately could depend on it.

If you are having any issues whatsoever preventing you from completing the form, or know of someone having such issues, please let me know ASAP.

Pass the word.

Cheers,
Marcello

Subject: *ALERT*: GSRA and GSV financial disclosure survey now available
Hi all

Pursuant to the Graduate Student Program (Document-169622), TRIUMF is required to conduct a yearly review of graduate student stipend level. Amendments to the Program, and the associated Hiring and Remuneration Procedures (Document-171510) arising from the last review came into effect September 1. Now that those are in effect, for the next review we are conducting a survey to be filled out by TRIUMF’s GSRAs and GSVs, which can be accessed here:

https://triumfoffice365.sharepoint.com/:l:/s/TRIUMFHR/FBgbhANvx0ROqNHY9MxMweoBZG1F7orjb39evLetGlZXUA?nav=NWQyMzYzYzgtZDc5Mi00YzkzLThhZGQtMzE5OWQ0MzFiOGI5

We ask that GSRAs and GSVs complete the financial disclosure survey by Friday Monday September 30, 2024

There is no (easy) way to change the form once submitted. If you need to make a change, just resubmit – we will keep the last entry you sent in.

The financial disclosure information in the survey has a dual purpose:

  * To inform whether the goals of the Graduate Student Program are being met, and if not, what amendments may be required.
  * To collect information about the financial condition of graduate students to assess eligibility for financial assistance in keeping with TRIUMF’s Graduate Student Program and related Graduate Student – Hiring and Renumeration procedures.

Note that:

  * Information from the form will be sent for review to your TRIUMF Supervisor (i.e. the grant holder if you are a GSRA, or the scientist who acts as your local supervisor if you are a GSV) when your form is submitted.
  * The TRIUMF Supervisors will then use the information to adjust GSRA stipend levels as required (if they haven’t already done so) and, if necessary, to request support for their grants from TRIUMF.
  * If you are a GSV requesting local living support, please discuss your request with your University Supervisor (typically your thesis supervisor at your home university). Some universities have strict rules about external support for their graduate students.
  * There is a possibility that you may be asked to provide supporting documentation for the information you entered on the disclosure form.
  * The data from the disclosure is confidential, and is stored securely on the HR website.

Please fill out the form as soon as you are able. It really is an important part of the graduate program that we have a good picture of the financial condition of the students – one cannot make decisions nor any necessary adjustments without good data.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, including technical issues with the form interface, please let me know ASAP.

Many thanks,
Marcello
