NEW! Elfin Lakes hike on Labour Weekend

For the planned Elfin Lakes trip this Sunday we did not manage to get park passes. The majority of the group decided to shift the dates instead of shifting the objective.
So, this is a NEW invite to go hiking with GAPS.

Objective still: Elfin Lakes.
21km and 800m of elevation hike in the Garibaldi Park ending at two beautiful alpine lakes. Not technical difficult, only enough endurance needed to walk a full day.

Time: Sunday or Monday on upcoming long Labour Day weekend, so 31st August or 1st September.
We will be leaving TRIUMF at 7am on the day as it is a 2h drive away, followed by a 7 hour hike + breaks, so make sure to take that into account in your response.


Everybody who wants to go on this hike, please RSVP.
This includes the ones who already did RSVP last week.
Please consider helping with the park passes (just a few clicks in the exact minute of 6:59 - 7:00am two days before).

Hi GAPS members,

We are looking forward to another hike this summer: Elfin Lakes.

It will happen on Sunday, the 24th of August.

It is a 21km and 800m of elevation hike in the Garibaldi Park ending at two beautiful alpine lakes. The hike is comparable to last year's Garibaldi Lake hike.

NOTES:

for this hike we will likely be leaving TRIUMF at 7am on the day as it is a 2h drive away, followed by a 7 hour hike so make sure to take that into account in your response.

Since Garibaldi requires parking passes that can only be booked two days before, we will need the help of participants in ensuring we get enough for the Diamond Head Parking Lot. In the case where we are unable to obtain these, we will plan a backup trail tbd.

This is a group activity. Sub-groups are fine, but nobody shall walk in groups smaller than 4. This is also because of potential wildlife.
