Greetings journal clubbers,
In advance of Wednesday's journal club meeting to discuss this paper
<http://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.116.102502?utm_sou
rce=email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=prl-alert> , I have prepared the
some questions. Also, by complete coincidence, Steve Pain, one of the
paper's co-authors, is at TRIUMF this week to give a talk. He may show up to
journal club to laugh at my complete misreading of this paper but you should
all go to the auditorium today at 2 to hear his talk.
Anyway, the questions:
· What is it about ONe novae that make the 30P(p,γ) 31S reaction so
important?
· What is an isobaric analog state? Why is it relevant?
· How do you ensure that the 3/2+ state is populated in
astrophysical conditions?
· Why is it important to spend valuable cyclotron time on a 32Cl
beam?
· Fun question: Given how much press this article received
<https://aps.altmetric.com/details/6141924> , how many article or blog post
authors that cited this article actually read it?
That is all. See you Wednesday (3:30 in the ISAC-II conference room).
