Hi all

Some questions to start us off on Wednesday (3:30 pm).

Q1: Why is the presence of long-lived excited states (isomers) in exotic
nuclei interesting?
Q2: What factors affect the decay rate of proton-/alpha-decaying
isomers?
Q3: What is the function of the multiwire proportional counter in the
experiment?
Q4: What is meant by "empirical coupling rules for odd-odd nuclei"?
(last paragraph on page 2, left column)
Q5: Do you expect either the proton- or alpha-decay branch to dominate
in 158Ta?
Q6: Does the author provide sufficient explanation of the impact of
long-lived isomers on other nuclear research topics?

Cheers,
Mike
