Hi all,
For our colloquium next week we will have Nhan Tran from FNAL visiting. Nhan is an expert in jet substructure and machine learning applications on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, and has also been involved with the LDMX experiment. I've attached his abstract below.
Please let me know if you'd be interested in meeting with him! In particular I'm looking for someone to coordinate lunch as I have to teach at that time.
Best wishes,
Max
Title: From analog to automation to assistants: experiments, AI, and you
Abstract: Artificial intelligence is already transforming the way we do science and has the potential to do significantly more, enhancing the capabilities of our detectors and facilities. I will talk about an envisioned path to autonomous experimentation with the potential to improve efficiency and accelerate discoveries. From novel sensing to optimal control to information synthesis, I will give examples of tools and methods that could underpin the next generation of scientific experiments.
