Site-wide announcement email list issues

Dear grads and postdocs,

The "Director Site-Wide Announcements" list is used for a variety of important announcements at TRIUMF. It was launched this past spring, in an attempt to improve site-wide communication.

Postdocs and (particularly) graduate students at TRIUMF have historically struggled to be included in site-wide mailing lists. Now that this one has been in existence for ~6 months, we want to know: is it working for you?

If you have a valid TRIUMF access card and do not receive site-wide announcements from the Director, please reply to this email. The latest email from this list is below, so that you can check. It's helpful if you can tell us your status (grad students/postdoc), affiliation (TRIUMF or a school), when you got your access card, and any other info that may be relevant.

As we've done in the past, we'll bring any issues to the attention of the IT department at TRIUMF in hopes of resolving them for current and future GAPS members.

Dear Colleagues,

Just a reminder for this week’s Virtual Town Hall, which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, November 4th, from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM.

The Town Hall will include a presentation by Monika Stachura on ARIEL applications in the life sciences. I also want to take time this week to reiterate our shared commitment to health and safety here at TRIUMF. You’ve no doubt seen the increase in cases in BC over the past few months. Luckily at TRIUMF there have been no new cases of COVID-19 within our community, and this is in part a result of both the care exercised by everyone coming to site, and the diligence in adhering to our established protocols.

As we have been saying since the beginning of the pandemic, our goal continues to be keeping our community safe while enabling science at TRIUMF. Hand washing, physical distancing, and wearing a face covering remain the tenets of our defense in depth strategy, and I ask that you continue these habits into the winter and beyond as we face not just COVID-19 but also the incoming cold and flu season.

Remember also to be kind to yourselves and your peers. Our Town Halls are an excellent opportunity to reconnect, but don’t be afraid to reach out more frequently – your health, both physical and mental, should always be a priority.
