Hi Everyone,
In addition to the WNPPC practice session, we will also be hosting a Presentation Skills/Communication workshop on Monday 1st Feb at 4.00 - 6.00 PM with Miranda Stahn.
This workshop will be tailored to delivering talks and posters in an online setting - perfect for those of you attending WNPPC, but open to everyone!
If you plan to attend, please fill out this form here!<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=EDUFwrOceUai049ELgO1h4oizvEkPf5KigaaVMFmCe9UN1M5RUg5V0tWT1RNNDBYWU9QRTBRNVBRMCQlQCN0PWcu>
Zoom details will follow later in the week.
A short description of the workshop and Miranda's bio can be found below.
Presentation/Communication Skills workshop
"In this session, science communicator and outreach specialist Miranda Stahn will review the fundamentals of crafting engaging presentations. Through this interactive workshop, learn how to tell the story of your research, be it via an academic poster, a full-length presentation or a flash talk. Even the best research can get lost in translation, so this workshop will provide advice on tailoring your work to both general and specific audiences. In line with the constraints of COVID, additional attention will be placed on how to adapt the presentation for virtual platforms such as Zoom.
Miranda is presently a program coordinator for Genome Alberta and is the founder of Science Networkers - an organization that helps grad students and academics gain valuable insight into non-traditional career paths in science communication, policy and outreach. She has also worked with Sci. Bio to organize professional development focused panels and seminars. "
See you there!
