Join the GAPS Committee + January Elections

Hello GAPS community,

Happy new year! With the new year comes new inspiration and opportunities for change, so if you were searching, this is your sign to help build the GAPS community here at TRIUMF by joining the GAPS committee!

As a reminder, any GAPS member (grad or postdoc associated with TRIUMF) is welcome to join the GAPS Committee at any time. Typically, we'd like you to attend 2 committee meetings to be considered 'on the committee' so you can get familiar. The committee is all volunteer run and you can choose how much time you'd like to invest. Our current GAPS Committee meetings are held every Friday, 1pm in the ISAC II Video Room 223, so come along!

This week would be an especially good time to join if you'd like to hold an elected position (so you can attend 2 meetings before elections). Our internal elections are scheduled for Friday January 27th 1pm, where we will reshuffle the responsibilities of the committee. Note that these are internal elections because they are about the committee members volunteering for the responsibilities they'd like to manage that term, so many positions are elected by discussion. However, most events are organised by a lead volunteer anyway, so you don't need to hold a position to make an impact on our community!

Finally, if you're interested in coming along but can't make Fridays at 1pm, we'll be reconsidering the time again on the 27th, so reply to this email if you want to be included in the when2meet.
