Hey GAPS,

Get excited! As many of you know, GAPS has launched a Discord server to create a fun space for our community to connect! It's up and running, so come join the party 😎

We envision this space mostly being a social space to anchor our community. Here's a few things Discord can do for you:

  *   Replace the squillion WhatsApp chats you can't keep track of and can't remember who's added. You can continue to have private messages, but also use open discussion channels so everyone can be included on group activities like hiking and skiing! Yay for inclusivity!

  *   Always thought your memes deserved a wider audience? I'm specifically thinking of the legendary King Charles v TRIUMF HR meme? Then come check out our dedicated meme channel #🤡-memes-🤡!

  *   Perhaps you've spent half-an-hour stuck on how to initialise a C++ vector? Someone else has probably already bashed their head against the wall and can help you out in #coding-hell!

  *   Or maybe you want to organise your own informal event for the community? Discord channels can give everyone the invite!

And that's just the beginning! We have roles for co-ops, grads, and postdocs so everyone's invited. The Discord server can be whatever you want it to be, so come get involved and help shape our community.
