Dear all,

A few clarifications about the graduate student pay policy which were discussed at the BAE sessions last week and today.

- The resident graduate student financial assistance form has a dual purpose. It’s meant to 1) collect data on how many students we have at TRIUMF, and 2) inform us how many will require financial assistance from TRIUMF. The new funding levels for MSc and PhDs are outlined in the Resident Graduate Student Policy (Document-169622<https://documents.triumf.ca/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-169622/Graduate%20Student%20Policy.pdf>) and Procedure (Document-171510<https://documents.triumf.ca/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-171510/Graduate%20Student%20Program%20Procedures.pdf>).
- We ask ALL resident students (resident students are the ones who are at TRIUMF minimum 50% of their time in a 4 month period per year) to fill out the form. If students do not apply, then they will not receive and additional support they may be due.
- GSVs are not subject to the minimum stipend policy, as they are paid elsewhere and will be treated similar to sabbaticals. At the moment is it not clear how much support is required and appropriate for them. The data from these forms will be used to inform further guidance on their support which will be forthcoming shortly after the data are analyzed.
- The form submission deadline is Monday, November 6th, 5pm. This is a firm deadline to allow time for the any GSRA pay adjustments to be made before the Christmas break.
