Ben Davis-Purcell completed his PhD at Carleton University in 2022. Instead of continuing in academia, he pursued an opportunity to work for the Government of Canada through the Mitacs Canadian Science Policy Fellowship. With this Fellowship, he was hired as a Policy Analyst at NSERC where he worked for one year until September 2023. In this talk and open discussion, Ben will provide an overview of life as a policy analyst in the federal government, including important transferrable skills that science and engineering PhDs acquire and “a week in the life” of a policy analyst at NSERC. Ben returned to academia to start a postdoc at TRIUMF in November 2023.
Hope to see you there!
