Hi GAPS,

Reminding everyone about the SOGI workshop next week. Please RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 17th!

The ECS-EDI committee with the help of Andrea Robin is offering another workshop after a somewhat long hiatus! The workshop will cover terminology and allyship surrounding the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, with an emphasis on pronouns and supporting the trans community. As those who follow the news may know, there has been a lot of controversy and misinformation about this community, so we feel it is a good time to have this workshop and learn together the facts and how to support our colleagues at TRIUMF. This material is also being provided so you can share it with your groups if you feel comfortable and confident, the idea is to empower GAPS members to spread inclusion across the whole site!

The workshop will be split into 90-minute sessions over two days. The first day will be focused on introducing the terms, laws and issues of the 2SLGBTIA+ community consisting of a more lecture-style presentation from the facilitators with interactive components. The second session will focus on social learning with small group exercises similar to previous EDI workshops. We highly encourage folks to attend both sessions if possible. Lunch will be provided for both sessions, so be ready to eat and learn!

The sessions will be in the MOB Auditorium on the following days:
Monday Oct. 21st: 11:00am -12:30pm
Friday Oct. 25th: 11:00am -12:30pm

We need a headcount for planning food and facilitators, so please RSVP at the link below if you plan to attend!

Come learn with us!
