On behalf of TRIUMF and the TARA committee, it is with great sadness
that we announce the passing of Louise Richardson.
Louise Frisbie Richardson Dec. 14, 1915 - April 8, 2010 Resident of
Pleasanton 94, passed away on April 8, 2010 in Pleasanton, California.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was born on Dec.
14, 1915 to Edward and Jessie Frisbie in Redding, California. She
received a BA in English from UC Berkeley in 1937 and married the late
John Reginald Richardson in 1938. Louise worked with the Oakland
Shipyard computers during WWII. In 1946, the Richardsons moved to
Southern California (Malibu) where Dr. Richardson worked as a professor
of Physics at UCLA. J.R. "Reg" Richardson was the second director of
TRIUMF (1971-1976) and was a leader in the development of early
cyclotrons in North America. Under his guidance and with his
inspiration, the main TRIUMF cyclotron was built. As the "other half"
of the dynamic and warm Richardson duo, Louise remained an active part
of the TRIUMF community for decades. Louise also enjoyed their summer
home in Canada and retirement in Maui. Her favorite activities were
travel, which she did extensively, and crafts. Louise devoted her life
to her husband and her two daughters.
She is survived by her two daughters: Pamela Chrisman (Ken) of
Pleasanton; Barbara McKenzie (Donald) of Vancouver, Canada;
grandchildren: Karl Chrisman (Tamara) of Livermore; Brian Chrisman
(Hanyi) of San Jose; Michelle Frank (Matt) of Pleasanton; Grant McKenzie
of Vancouver, Canada; Kari-Jean McKenzie of Vancouver, Canada and eight
great grand-children.
