FYI

This is a follow up to the message just posted site wide regarding the
replacement of lin00 next Tuesday Nov 9th. This information however is
specific to the Linux/Unix Managers. In addition to the hardware upgrade
the new machine will have a different name. It will be called
trserv.triumf.ca.

The issue which you *MUST* address is how your machine has been
mounting your present /triumfcs/linux or /triumfcs/alpha mount points.

The recomended way has been to use the autofs files /etc/auto.master and
/etc/auto.triumfcs, in which the /etc/auto.triumfcs file refers to
"lin00" as "fserver", namely

linux -ro,soft,intr fserver:/home/export
alpha -ro,soft,intr fserver:/home/exporta

If you have been mounting /triumfcs/linux and/or /triumfcs/alpha in the
/etc/fstab file and in addition have been refering to the mount points
via "lin00" and not the generic alias "fserver", you have been doing it
wrong and it will break next Tuesday Nov 9th.

Please replace all references to lin00 in your /etc/fstab and autofs
files depending what you have been using with the name fserver
