This morning a bum update of rpcbind landed from the sky. rpcbind does not run (crashes soon
after start), ypwhich reports "ypwhich: Can't communicate with ypbind", everything else seem
okey so far, but probably will not survive a reboot. rpcbind is needed for NIS and NFS, I think.
A solution is to "yum downgrade rpcbind" to previous version rpcbind-0.2.0-38.el7.x86_64,
but also need to disable all automatic updates, or the new bad package will become reinstalled.
The bad package is this:
# rpm -q rpcbind
rpcbind-0.2.0-38.el7_3.x86_64
Bug report is this: (for more info follow links from bug report)
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1454876
All the DAQ el7 machines are affected by this problem. Ouch.
