Title: Secrets of E949
Abstract: How hard can it be to detect and measure the branching ratio for a final state with one charged track and nothing else? Plenty, if the branching ratio is in the neighbourhood of 10**-10 and the signal acceptance is ~0.2%. I discuss some of the difficulties, complexities, and ambiguities of the E949 measurement of the [K+ => pi+ nu nubar] branching ratio.
TRIUMF Research Scientist candidate.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
