Title: Commissioning and initial operation of the Canadian Light Source
Abstract: Commissioning of the Canadian Light Source, a third-generation 2.9 GeV electron storage ring, started in September 2003, after four years of construction. By June 2004, the initial performance targets of 100 ma stored beam with adequate beam stability had been achieved, and the CLS facility received its Routine Operation license from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in mid-July. Regular operation of the storage ring started in August 2004, to provide x-rays to commission the first seven beamlines by early 2005. This talk will provide an overview of the present facility, with an emphasis on thhe design and performance of the accelerator systems.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
