Title: Report from Cyclotrons 2004 (Tokyo) and FFAG'04 (KEK)
Abstract: The 17th International Conference on Cyclotrons and their Applications was recently held in Tokyo, following the FFAG'04 Workshop at KEK, and incorporating a session on FFAGs. Among the cyclotrons reported under construction were one almost as large as TRIUMF's (and twice as massive), several superconducting machines for proton therapy, and a compact high-intensity cyclotron in the 100-MeV range. Numerous FFAG projects were described, for a variety of applications, ranging from a 20-cm diameter 1-MeV electron model, to a 15-m diameter 400-MeV/u ring for hadron therapy, to a 1.2-km-long ring for 20-GeV muons. This talk will be a slightly expanded version of the summary given at the end of the conference.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
