Title: Anti-Kaon mediated high-density nuclear systems

Abstract: It has recently been predicted that anti-K mesons may form extraordinarily dense nuclear systems due to the strong anti-K N attraction which is strong enough to overcome the hard nuclear incompressibility. The predicted bound systems, such as ppK^-, pppK^-, ppK^-K^- and pppK^- K^-, have very large binding energies and high densities (as much as 3 times the normal nuclear density). The first evidence was found at KEK in the 4He(stopped-K^-, p) reaction. Further experiments using kaons, pions, heavy ions, etc. are planned. The quest for strange dense nuclei will provide a hitherto unknown and untouched regime of particle-nuclear physics (high density, kaon condensation, cold quark-gluon phase), namely, a new paradigm Quark Gluon Bound System (QGB) in contrast to Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). Perspectives of this new research domain will be presented.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
