Title: Accelerator Mass Spectrometry of Heavy Ions
Abstract: Over several decades Accelerator Mass Spectrometry has evolved into one of the most sensitive method for detecting long-lived isotopes at natural levels. The whole system consisting of ion source, accelerator, mass selection and detector is the measuring instrument. In order to get accurate and precise measurements (e.g. 14C/12C ratios can be measured with a precision of 0.2%) every single part must be well understood. This is particularly true for heavy ion (A > 100 amu) where technical and physical limits often impair an experiment. In this talk I will focus on developments in the field for beam transport, isotope and isobar separation, critical points in many accelerator based experiments.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
