Title: Hot photons! Electromagnetic probes of matter under extreme conditions
Abstract: Relativistic nuclear collisions offer the possibility to create and study strongly-interacting matter in extreme conditions of temperature and density, in the laboratory. We will review some of the recent results of RHIC (the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider), and we will discuss some of their theoretical implications. Emphasis will be put on the information conveyed by the so-called penetrating probes in the ongoing program, and in that of the LHC.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
