Title: The Optical Transition Radiation Beam Position Monitor for the T2K experiment: Status Report

Abstract: The T2K experiment at the new J-PARC facility will explore neutrino oscillations using an accelerator produced neutrino beam directed at the Super-Kamiokande detector. A beam position monitor is required just upstream of the pion target to get accurate proton beam information. This is needed in order to steer the pions correctly so that the resulting muon-neutrinos are directed at the Super-K detector. An Optical Transition Radiation foil is located 20 cm upstream of the target. Visible light from the foil is directed through a series of mirrors to a fast intensified camera. A prototype has been tested and materials studies are in progress to understand beam effects on components.

Please bring your own lunch.
