Title:     Electron sources for high-current  linacs

Abstract: A comparison of thermionic, photocathode and RF-gun electron sources suitable for a c.w. 5-10 mA electron linac will be given, covering such areas as design issues, capital cost, life time and maintenance. In addition, appropriate transport elements and the need for bunchers and choppers, etc will be discussed.
