Speaker: Ben Lillie (University of Chicago/Argonne National Laboratory)

Title: Top quarks: Windows to new physics at the LHC

Abstract: There are many reasons to think that new physics will be produced at the Large Hadron Collider, scheduled to come online in the summer of this year. Many possibilities for this new physics, including several models of extra dimensions and supersymmetry, will be discovered primarily or only in channels involving top quarks. These top quarks will be produced in extreme kinematic regimes, requiring new techniques for identification. We review some of the possible models as well as the progress in developing model-independent search techniques.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk. The speaker is a candidate for a research scientist position in the theory group.
