Title:     PANDA at FAIR

Abstract: FAIR ( Facility for Anti-proton and Ion Research) will be a new international facility at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany.  The formal kick-off event took place in November 2007 and construction will begin in 2008. A whole series of accelerator rings and secondary beams are planned for FAIR, among them the 15 GeV anti-proton storage ring HESR with the PANDA experiment. The PANDA physics programme includes the search for glueballs and hybrids, charmonium spectroscopy, hypernuclei and proton structure. I will present the PANDA detector in detail, with a special focus on particle identification, and the PANDA physics programme, especially the planned research on proton structure.
