Title: Tau Lepton Decay Branching Fraction Measurements at BaBar

Abstract: Using data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II electron-positron storage ring operating at a centre-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV, the branching fractions of tau to three charged hadrons are measured, where each hadron is identified as either a pion or a kaon. The branching fractions of tau- ---> phi pi- nu(tau) and tau- ---> phi K- nu(tau) are measured, from binned maximum likelihood fits of the invariant mass of the K+K- pairs from tau- ---> K- pi- K+ nu(tau) and tau- ---> K- K- K+ nu(tau) decays. In addition, an upper limit on the branching fraction of tau to three charged kaons excluding the phi resonance is determined. The branching ratio of tau- ---> K- nu(tau) relative tau- ---> pi- nu(tau) is measured allowing for a new independent measurement of |V(us)| from tau decays. The branching ratio of tau- ---> mu- nu(tau) anti-nu(mu) relative to tau- - -> e- nu(tau) anti-nu(e) is measured enabling a precision test of the Standard Model assumption of charged current lepton universality, g(mu)/g(e). The branching ratios tau- ---> K- nu(tau) and tau- ---> pi- nu(tau) relative to tau- ---> e- nu(tau) anti-nu(e) are measured which provide additional tests of charged current lepton universality, g(tau)/g(mu), in both strange and non-strange decays.
