Title: Exploration of exotic nuclei along the proton drip line with Gammasphere and the Fragment Mass Analyzer

Abstract: The evolution of nuclear structure away from the line of stability is one of the focal points of contemporary nuclear physics and it is the subject of intense worldwide experimental and theoretical effort. The knowledge of properties of exotic nuclei is essential for establishing a universal effective nucleon-nucleon interactions across the nuclidic chart and is required to describe quantitatively nuclear synthesis which takes place in explosive stellar environments. In recent years experiments with GAMMASPHERE and the Fragment Mass Analyzer at ATLAS contributed significantly to understanding of the nuclear landscape along the proton dripline. This progress will be illustrated with selected highlights on the spontaneous proton emission, the nuclear structure near the doubly-magic 100Sn, and the gamma decay above the proton threshold in light proton-rich nuclei located along the astrophysical rp-process path. Future prospects in the context of the ATLAS intensity upgrade and planned improvements in detection techniques will be also discussed.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
