Title: Future plans for accelerator-based probes of neutrino mixing: T2K and beyond

Abstract: In 2012, the exciting discovery of a non-zero value of then-unknown neutrino oscillation angle, theta13, by reactor experiments was confirmed by accelerator based experiments, like the Tokai-to-Kamioka (T2K) experiment. T2K sends a nearly pure beam of muon neutrinos 295km across Japan, and measures a small excess of electron neutrinos which is used to determine neutrino oscillation parameters, including theta13. Now that theta13 is known, future neutrino experiments propose to search for CP violation with neutrino and antineutrino beams. Such searches depend on precision measurements of additional mixing parameters, |Dm2(32)|, theta23 and the mass hierarchy, the sign of Dm2(32). In particular, T2K can measure whether or not theta23 is maximal or not, as the latest accelerator based measurements indicate a possible non-maximal value. This talk will describe the short and
long term program of T2K, the complementarity of T2K results with reactor and other long baseline experiments such as Nova, and possible searches for deltaCP with the proposed Hyper-Kamiokande detector.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
