Location: ISAC II Conf Rm
Speaker: Yong-Kyun Kim / Dong-O Jeon (Institute for Basic Science, Korea)
Title: RISP Experimental Facility and Science / RISP Accelerator Systems
Abstract: The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) was founded November, 2011 as the main
institute of the International Science and Business Belt (ISBB) plan. Under
the IBS, the Rare Isotope Science Project was launched December, 2011 to
construct the heavy ion accelerator facility named "the RAON". The RAON facility
includes the In-Flight Fragmentation (IF) facility and the Isotope Separator
On-Line (ISOL) facility. To meet the diverse needs of users, the RAON design
is optimized by combining the IF and ISOL systems, to provide various high
intensity stable ion beams from proton to uranium and rare isotope (RI)
beams for domestic and international users. This facility is to support
various science researches including nuclear science, material science,
bio-medical science, nuclear data for next generation atomic energy,
astrophysics etc. General layout and system description of the accelerator
facility are presented along with a brief description of the science programs.
