Title: Coulomb Excitation and One-Neutron Transfer Studies of Stable and Radioactive Nuclei at HRIBF-ORNL
Abstract: New results from Coulomb excitation of the stable nickel, tin, and tellurium isotopes and neutron-rich radioactive tin and tellurium isotopes are presented. In particular, electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole properties are presented for the first excited 2+ states. In addition, new results from the one-neutron transfer study of radioactive Sn-133 are presented. These new results probe single-neutron states outside of the radioactive double-magic Sn-132 nucleus, which are analogous to single electrons outside of closed atomic shells (i.e., hydrogen-like atoms). These recent experiments were conducted at the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) at ORNL using a HPGe-CsI detector array (CLARION-BAREBALL) to detect scattered particles and emitted gamma rays from the in-beam reactions. A survey of the equipment, techniques, results, and preliminary conclusions will be presented.
