Title: Light Dark Matter with Large Cross-sections in the NMSSM

Abstract: Several recent experiments have reported tentative hints of light (<10
GeV) particle dark matter. In particular, the CDMS collaboration has
reported three candidate scattering events which suggest a light dark
matter candidate with a large scattering cross-section off of nucleons.
In this talk, I will show that the next-to-minimal supersymmetric
extension of the standard model (NMSSM) can provide an explanation of
these results through a light neutralino which scatters off of nucleons
via light scalar exchange. Since this scenario entails light new
particles coupling to the Higgs sector it can be constrained by LHC Higgs
searches and other low-energy observables. I will describe the parameter
space for this scenario and discuss the potential for future discovery by
various experimental efforts.
