Title: Radiative proton capture and charge radii using Halo EFT

Abstract: Halo nuclei are loosely bound systems consisting of a core plus valence nucleon(s). In so called Halo effective field theory (EFT), the core of the halo nucleus is treated as a structureless degree-of-freedom. An EFT offers a systematic way of improving results, by including higher orders, and the possibility to infer error estimates.
At energies relevant to solar-fusion processes, radiative proton capture cross sections are very hard to measure. This is due to the exponential suppression at low energies from Coulomb repulsion. For this reason the quest for high-precision low-energy S-factors is a joint venture between nuclear experiment and theory, where theory can provide models for extrapolation of data obtained at higher energies down to threshold. In this seminar, I will present recent work on one-proton halo nuclei, such as Boron-8. Our work provides alternative ways of extracting S-factors, by correlating different observables within the EFT.
