Title: Accelerator Physics at IAP Frankfurt: From Ion Sources to High Power Linacs

Abstract: The Institute for Applied Physics (IAP) at the University of Frankfurt has a more than a 50 year history of accelerator research with emphasis on low end medium energy hadron linacs. Specialties of the IAP are RFQ-accelerators where more than 60 of these structures have been built and put into operation. Presently the main activity is towards challenging cw operation for various applications as ADS or small scale neutron sources.
The development of different kinds of drift tube structures is another important research field. Besides IH-cavities, Crossbar-H-Mode (CH) cavities are becoming more and more important. Several room temperature and superconducting CH-cavities have been developed and very successfully tested.
The talk presents an overview of the present research activities including RF structures, ion sources as well as recent highlights of several tests.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
