Title: Symmetry violations in neutron and nuclear beta decay

Abstract: Nuclear and neutron beta decay played a major role in uncovering the structure of the weak interaction, but also remains important today in searches for non-SM couplings. These searches for non-SM physics are, however, not independent from searches in other fields, such as searches at the LHC or searches for electric dipole moments. In this talk I will discuss the significance of beta decay compared to various other observables.

Besides searches for non-SM interactions, beta decay is also a promising precision laboratory to test Lorentz symmetry breaking in the weak interaction. I will discuss the possibilities that beta decay offers to search for Lorentz violation.
