Title:     ATLAS @ LHC: the Energy Frontier (re)Awakens

Abstract: With the Higgs boson discovered, the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is moving forward with the direct exploration of the energy frontier. After a commissioning run in 2015 at a 13 TeV proton-proton centre of mass energy, the LHC is now starting Run-2 physics operation with sufficient data and energies to probe for new physics at the electroweak scale and with electroweak couplings. The results from precision measurements and searches for new phenomena at LHC Run-2 has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of matter, energy and the nature of the universe. I will discuss the status of the LHC and ATLAS, including intriguing results from 2015 and the expectation for the 2016-2018 Run-2 period.  ATLAS upgrades in the near and longer term will also be mentioned.
