Title: Rare Isotope Science Project (RISP) and muSR Research Activities in Korea

Abstract: The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) was established in November 21, 2011 as Korea's first dedicated basic science research institute. A rare isotope heavy-ion accelerator was initiated as a key research facility of IBS, and the Rare Isotope Science Project (RISP) was intended to realize the heavy-ion accelerating facility, which will generate a variety of stable and rare isotopes for research in nuclear physics as well as in material and biomedical sciences. In the first part of my talk, I will give an overview on IBS and RISP. In the second part, I will introduce our endeavor to build core Korean user groups as well as to train young students, who will contribute to the construction and operation of the state-of-art muSR spectrometers in RISP. Finally, I will briefly discuss our muSR experiments performed using the TRIUMF facilities in the last three years.
