Title: Tales of mystery and imagination from weighing exotic nuclides at ISOLDE
Abstract: The field of precision mass spectrometry has been linked to nuclear astrophysics since the very beginning. Studies of r-process nucleosynthesis continue to require binding energies of the most neutron-rich species that can be produced at facilities such as ISAC and ISOLDE.
In the ongoing quest to explain the origin of heavy metal, neutron-star mergers have been studies and whence, the mysterious composition of cold neutron matter has become a hot topic.
In this seminar we'll discuss some recent results from the pioneering ion-trap spectrometer ISOLTRAP at CERN, wherever possible with the imagination surrounding the astrophysics related to neutron richesse.
