Title: Reactor Experiment for Neutrino Oscillation (RENO)

Abstract: Neutrino is conceptually born in 1930 by Pauli and discovered in 1954 by Reines and Cowan from reactor neutrinos. It is a fundamental building block of our universe and the most abundant particle in a visible universe. However its properties are not fully known yet and they could shed light on the secrets of our universe, such as why the universe is dominated by matter.
RENO is a reactor neutrino experiment in Korea to measure the smallest neutrino mixing angle theta13 in the PMNS matrix. The last unknown mixing angle theta13 is finally measured as ~9 degree in 2012 by RENO and Daya Bay independently. The relatively large value of theta13 opens up widely a golden age of neutrino physics, which will lead to a better understanding of the neutrino and its role in shaping the Universe. In this talk I will introduce RENO and its current status.
If time allows, I will also introduce a future accelerator-based long baseline neutrino experiment, T2HKK, which I have been recently working on together with RENO.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
