Title:     Updates on Prospects of a THz/IR Photon Source at TRIUMF

Abstract: Production of intense Infra-red (IR) radiation, as one of possible applications for the TRIUMF electron linac, has been considered from the very beginning.  As the linac commissioning successfully progresses, prospects of a photon source exploiting all the opportunities, about to be brought to the Laboratory by this advanced electron accelerator, become ever more attractive and realizable. In anticipation of formal decisions, several practical steps have been undertaken on this route. In my talk I will report on recent contacts with the Canadian IR user community, review accelerator technologies relevant to linac based photon sources and share impressions from visiting the operational ELBE IR photon facility located at the Dresden-Rossendorf campus of the Helmholtz center in Germany.
