Title: Towards Quantum Computation With Superconducting Circuits
Abstract: By exploiting effects such as quantum superpositions and entanglement, quantum computers could solve problems that are intractable on standard, classical, computers. While building a full-scale quantum computer capable of rivalling today's supercomputers remains a challenge, the last few years have seen tremendous improvements in our ability to build small superconducting quantum processors and run simple algorithms on these processors. In this talk, I will review some of the basic concepts that could allow quantum computers to outperform their classical counterparts. With an emphasis on superconducting quantum processors, I will also discuss recent developments of the field and outline some of the challenges that lie ahead.
