Title: Few-Body Nuclear Phenomena from Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics
Abstract: Our understanding of how nuclear phenomena emerges from quark and gluon interactions within Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) has remained elusive do to its non-perturbative nature. Key problems include understanding the role of three-body nuclear forces, gaining insight on the structure of hadrons, and connecting nuclear process to extensions beyond the Standard Model. Although challenging, advances in both theoretical and numerical techniques have allowed us to determine few-body systems directly from QCD. Lattice QCD, combined with elements of scattering theory and effective field theories, offers a systematic pathway to numerically compute hadronic properties from first principles. I will present an overview of this program as applied to two- and three-hadron reactions, and discuss recent results which aim to resolve the few-body problem from QCD.
