Title:     The current state of quantum computing

Abstract: I will provide a high-level introduction to quantum computing, and the types of problems such devices will be able to solve, with a particular focus on physics applications. I will then give an overview of the rapidly-changing state of today's hardware landscape, and highlight a
few major players and recent developments. I will also briefly outline the goals of my new research group at UBC, and the research taking place at UBC and in BC more broadly.
